Opening The SAFE for the First Time

Insert The SAFE into the computer's USB port.
At this point an Icon should appear - CAUTION: Some Anti-Virus systems will prevent the loading of new hardware. If the Icon does not appear, go to your start button and click "My Computer", highlight the "Removable Disk" drive and Double click. Life Link International and The SAFE Icon will appear. Double click to open.
This brings you to the WELCOME PAGE: Read thoroughly for important password instructions.

Password Suggestions

Develop a password that will be easy to remember. We suggest that numbers and characters in different combinations be used. The SAFE's built-in security system requires twelve letters, employing upper and lower case letters. The following are examples:

Example A ---- $CatsNdogs#2
Example B ---- 7DaysInMay^9
Example C ---- #Mary#lamB08
$CatsNdoGs#2
7dAYSinMay^9
#MArY#lamB08

The use of upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters makes your password significantly more difficult to break. NEVER CARRY or KEEP your password with The SAFE. Once your password is entered you may NEVER change it. Prior to entering your password write it down exactly - showing upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters. Remember LIFE LINK INTERNATIONAL does not store your information and cannot help you if you lose your password.
Once password is entered, the start page appears: "Welcome to The SAFE". This will be the page you see from now on.
You are now at The SAFE "INDEX"

Usage

Insert The SAFE into the computer's USB port.
Click on The SAFE Icon.
Enter your password. If you fail after three attempts to correctly enter your password, the program will shut down and you must start over.
Once you have sucessfully entered the program you will be at the INDEX page.

Index

Select any Section or Page you wish. Place Cursor over desired Section or Page and Click.
IMPORTANT: Prior to starting, gather all personal, financial, medical papers, numbers, insurance policies, etc. In the beginning, it is recommended that you fill in one section at a time.
THE SAFE SECTIONS:
Section A: Personal Information
Section B: Emergency Personal / Medical Information
Section C: Financial Information
Section D: Personal Photographs
Section E: Personal Papers
Section F: Miscellaneous Information

The SAFE contains over forty (40) preformatted, easy to fill-in forms designed to cover most every aspect of your personal life. There will be forms that do not apply to you at all, ignore them. Other forms only partially apply; fill in as much information that applies to your situation.
THIS IS IMPORTANT: After you have entered the data onto the forms you must always Click SAVE button before moving to another page or exiting out The SAFE program. There two exceptions to this rule:
- 1) If you are filling in a form on a page that SAVES just to a grid, all information is automatically saved when you click the ADD button. EXAMPLE FORM: "UTILITY NUMBERS". CAUTION: If you click the ADD button and then the SAVE button,a blank line will be automatically be added. This line can be removed by pressing the D the delete button.
- 2) If the page you are working on has both forms and grids, you are required to SAVE prior to moving onto the next page or closing out of the program. EXAMPLE FORM: Telephones: Business / Office / Work.
All forms can be updated as your situation changes just by deleting the field, retyping and saving. All grids may be edited or deleted by clicking on "E" Edit or "D" Delete.
Sections D - E - F - Note: To assist in the organization of your data, you will find suggested examples for items to be uploaded to these sections. Click on "My Documents" file in these sections.

Click on the "My Documents" section that you want to upload into.
Left Click the Browse button.
SELECT a FILE appears. Click the downward arrow to the right of "Look in Window" field.
Highlight the "My Documents" file and Enter.
Move cursor to the file or document to be uploaded. You must upload one document at a time (no files).
The file will open - select your document to be loaded by highlighting then clicking the Open button.
Click the upload button.
At the file name: Type in the name of your document and its extension.
- • EXAMPLE. For "Documents", type in: Personal telephone list.doc (dot doc)
- • EXAMPLE: For "Excel", type in: Monthly expenses.xls (dot xls)
Once you have named your document click the Save button.
A box will appear stating, "Do you wish to save this document?" - Enter YES
Click the Attach File button
A message will appear: "File has successfully been copied"
ENTER OK. Your document is now saved to The SAFE.

Go to Section D and Click on "My Documents" Personal Photographs file.
Move cursor to the Browser button and ENTER.
Move cursor to the "Look in" window at the top of the page and Click the downward arrow just to the right of the window.
Click on "My Documents".
Move your cursor to "My Pictures" and left click.
Select the photograph file or individual photograph, highlight OPEN and left click "OK".
Click the Upload button.
Type in the name of your photograph and the extension. Example: 2009 Dad's birthday.jpg -- Note: Do not type jpeg
At this point you are asked, "Do you wish to create this picture?" ENTER- YES
If the name already exists, rename it with .jpg and ENTER
Then Click the Attach File button
A message box will popup stating “Your file has been successfully copied." Click OK
You have successfully saved a photograph to The SAFE.

Go to Section D and open the "My Documents" Personal Photographs file
Move your cursor to the bottom right corner and Click on NEXT button
Highlight the name of the photograph you wish to download to a CD or flash drive.
Move your cursor to the Browse button and left click
At the top of the page ("Save In" window) Click the downward arrow on the right side and select where you wish to save the photograph- CD drive or another flash drive.
Click SAVE button
Then Click "Attach File" button
A message box will popup stating, "You have successfully copied this file" Click OK

CARE of The SAFE. It is important to keep The SAFE away from any magnetic sources such as any magnets, crank flashlights and radios. The magnetic field generated from these sources will corrupt The SAFE. It will do the same to any software, if exposed.
Keep your password in a secured place- always away from The SAFE and never on your person.
Before removing The SAFE from your computer's USB port, click on the Icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer. Once you have identified the drive for removal, click it, a message will appear stating, "It is safe for removal".
Attempts to copy The SAFE system is against copyright and patent laws. Further trying to copy The SAFE will corrupt both systems.
