  • Can anyone access The SAFE on the internet? No! Only you can access The SAFE.

  • Does any of the information I enter into The SAFE save to my hard drive? No, all information you type on the easy fill-in forms are not saved on your hard drive.

  • Must I register my password with the company? No. The password is created by you and known only to you.

  • Can I change the password? No. Once you establish your password it can never be changed. Write down the password and put it away in a SAFE place.

  • Can I copy The SAFE to my hard drive or to another drive? No. It is illegal and any attempt to copy The SAFE is an infringement of copyright laws and the pending patent. Further the program will be corrupted and all data will be lost in such attempts.

  • What can I upload into The SAFE?
    • • Ample space has been provided in each of the six sections to upload (for example):
      1. Spreadsheets
      2. Lists (email, address, phone)
      3. Documents
    • • Scanned papers, credentials, vital records, certificates (birth/ adoption/ marriage/ naturalization/ death)
    • • Medical reports
    • • Legal documents, last wishes/ wills
    NOTE: For your added protection, once uploaded these documents cannot be downloaded (only printed).

  • Can I make a hard copy of the data that I enter into The SAFE? Yes, in fact, we encourage that you do so. The system is designed to allow you the ability to print copies of the data you entered.

  • Can I copy my photographs to a CD? Yes. Photographs you have up-loaded in Section D (and only in Section D) can be burned onto a CD so that you are able to have them professionally reproduced.

  • Can I carry The SAFE with me at all times? Yes. There are no moving parts and The SAFE is sturdy. This being said, we recommend that as a rule you don’t carry The SAFE on you for it can be damaged over a period of time by being hit accidentally with keys and other objects. In addition, a cell phone could create a magnetic field which would erase the program and data. NOTE: Crank Flashlights or Crank Radios generate a magnetic field when used and should The SAFE come in contact with them, it will erase the program.

  • How many photographs can I upload to The SAFE? You my upload well in excess of 1 gigabyte in photographs. The number depends on the type of camera used. Example: Using a HP Photo Smart R927 camera you could upload over 600 photographs on the space provided for this purpose.

  • Is The SAFE waterproof? No. We recommend that you keep The SAFE in a dry place away from dampness, moisture or water.

  • How many times can I rewrite the data I enter in The SAFE? The manufacturer states the system can be rewritten 10,000 times. We feel confident that 1,000 times is a more realistic number.

  • How long will The SAFE last? Manufacturers of tier one USB flash drives state the drives should last more than ten years. However, it is important to note these are just projections since USB flash drives have not yet been around for ten years. Much depends upon how you care for the drive: Is it secured in a safe deposit box or some other location where it is dry and will not banged around? The SAFE drives are tier one quality.

  • Can you help me if I lose or forget my password? No. Life Link International does not maintain a database where passwords are kept. This again was done for security reasons and to protect your utmost privacy. Anytime you create a database of that type you become a target of hackers. This is why we have made it a point that you copy down your password before entering it. The SAFE system was intended that only The SAFE owner would be in control of the password.

  • Will The SAFE run on any computer? Not at this time. The SAFE system is compatible on any PC that runs Microsoft Windows 2000, or Windows XP. Drivers are required for Windows 98/ 95.

How Secure is The SAFE?

The SAFE is a stand alone system and is not supported by a server that may contain thousands of users, a prime target for hackers.

The SAFE is encrypted giving added protection to your data.

You will establish a twelve character password, using upper/ lower case letters, numbers and characters. The lottery requires you select 6 numbers and have set the odds of picking all numbers at 175 million to one. Your personal password will be even more difficult break.

The SAFE system has an anti-intrusion wall to further protect your password. After three failed password attempts to log in, the system will shut down and entry process must be restarted.

NOTE: Extreme care should be taken to secure your password. Never keep the password near The SAFE. Put it in a place that is easily remembered by you. The steps we have taken to ensure security makes trying to break your password extremely time consuming (years), costly and therefore not worth the effort should you lose The SAFE.
